WEIGHT LOSS

Semaglutide & Tirzepatide

What are weight loss Injections?

Semaglutide has been making waves since 2021, with multiple studies demonstrating its effectiveness for weight loss. It treats obesity as a chronic metabolic disease instead of expecting people to rely solely on willpower and lifestyle changes to manage their condition.

Semaglutide promotes weight loss in adults with obesity or who are overweight and have at least one weight-related condition. It’s used to treat chronic weight management for the 70% of American adults who are obese or overweight.

What are the side effects of Semaglutide & Tirzepatide injections?

The side effects of semaglutide and tirzepatide are typically mild — especially when compared to the complications associated with overweight and obesity.

People taking semaglutide for weight loss may experience:

  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Gastrointestinal issues, such as diarrhea, constipation and gassiness
  • Headache
  • Stomach issues, including nausea, vomiting, pain or distension (bloat)

Gastrointestinal issues are the most common complaint among people just starting. But you may be able to reduce the side effects by beginning on a lower dose and then slowly increasing the amount you take.

Who should (and should not) take Semaglutide & Tirzepatide for weight loss?

Semaglutide v Ozempic v Wegovy - What’s the difference?

Ozempic and Wegovy are both injections that contain the medicine Semaglutide. Ozempic was orginally approved to treat Type 2 diabetes. Wegovy was relabeled and approved for weight loss. Both drugs contain the same molecule. During your consultation, the nurse will decide the correct dosage for you.

Mounjaro/Tirzepatide

Mounjaro is the brand name for the drug Tirzepatide. The drug works in similar way as Semaglutide to reduce appetite, but there are some differences. Instead of being a single-receptor agonist, which semaglutide is, Mounjaro activates two receptors at the same time. It’s called a ‘dual-agonist.

During the consultation, the nurse will understand your goals and medical history and prescribe the best solution for you.
